Winter Jones, an Atlanta native and senior mathematics major at Spelman College, is an aspiring aerospace engineer. As a sophomore, she secured funding through the Department of Defense’s Research Scholars program to build a model hybrid rocket engine and refine a cutting-edge fuel grain casting technique. Today, she contributes to NASA’s University Leadership Initiative at Georgia Tech’s Ben T. Zinn Combustion Laboratory, where she investigates toxic emissions from supersonic jet combustors. Beyond the lab, Winter is a dynamic public speaker, a lover of poetry, and an avid puzzler, always seeking creative ways to challenge her mind. With aspirations of earning a graduate degree in aerospace engineering, she embodies the spirit of a modern Renaissance woman, melding science, art, and innovation to leave an indelible mark on the field and beyond.
