Dr. Aidyl Gonzalez-Serricchio is a distinguished scientist. She holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics and Developmental Biology from the renowned California Institute of Technology. She specializes in environmental microbiology and astrobiology, exploring microbial life beyond Earth.

In her research in astrobiology, Aidyl investigates a wide range of topics, from analyzing soil health to studying microbiomes in extreme environments, spanning from the Arctic to lava tube caves in the Azores. She sheds light on the adaptability of life forms in extraterrestrial conditions, focusing on microbial life and nematodes.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Aidyl leads citizen science initiatives as the Director of Outreach at the International Institute of Astronautical Sciences. She actively promotes inclusivity and innovation in STEM and advocates for education and diversity.

Passionate about fostering inclusivity, belonging, and innovation in STEM, Aidyl strives to inspire environmental empathy and collective action. Her impactful contributions include spearheading global citizen science initiatives and pioneering the Soil Science Citizen Science initiative.
