Scott A. McLaughlin is a seasoned executive and engineer with a diverse background spanning private industry and government service. Over the course of his career, he has held roles ranging from technician and production manager to researcher, design engineer, sales lead, and executive, equipping him with a rare ability to lead with insight into all levels of technical and operational execution.

A New Mexico native, Mr. McLaughlin earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University. He later co-founded a radar design and manufacturing firm in Colorado, where he served as a principal and led the development of innovative systems supporting space launch, aviation, atmospheric monitoring, and range operations worldwide. Following the company’s acquisition, he returned to New Mexico to continue his commitment to advancing aerospace technologies.

Mr. McLaughlin joined Spaceport America in 2019 and was appointed Executive Director in 2021. Under his leadership, the spaceport has advanced its role as a national platform for spaceflight, suborbital research, and commercial aerospace innovation.
