As part of the ISDC 2026 program, we are pleased to offer a coordinated visit to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's expansive companion facility in Chantilly, VA.

Home to the Space Shuttle Discovery and the SR-71 Blackbird, the center provides an unparalleled look at the history of aviation and space exploration within its massive open-hangar setting.

Schedule & Logistics

  • Date: Wednesday, June 3, 2026
  • Departure: The shuttle will depart from the Hilton Hotel at 11:00 AM.
  • Return: The shuttle will depart the museum at 3:30 PM, arriving back at the hotel by approximately 4:00 PM.
  • Time on Site: Attendees will have approximately four hours for self-guided exploration.

Registration & Fees

  • Transportation Fee: $35.00 * Covers round-trip coach service, bottled water, and light snacks.
  • Capacity: Limited to 50 attendees (one bus.) Early registration is encouraged to secure a seat.
  • Museum Admission: Free.

Alternative Transportation

Attendees who prefer to provide their own transportation may drive directly to the facility.

  • Parking: $15.00 per vehicle (payable at the museum).

Visitor Information

  • Dining: An on-site restaurant is available for lunch at the attendee's expense.
  • IMAX Theater: The Airbus IMAX Theater offers daily screenings. Programming and tickets are managed by the museum and may be purchased individually on-site.
  • Guided Tours: The museum frequently offers docent-led tours. These schedules are typically released 2–3 weeks prior to the date. We recommend checking the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center website closer to the event.


Visiting the National Air and Space Museum (Washington, D.C.)

While ISDC 2026 is not currently offering organized group tours to this site, we highly encourage attendees to explore this iconic museum on their own during their time in the vicinity.

The museum is located in the heart of Washington, D.C., and features legendary artifacts such as the 1903 Wright Flyer and the Apollo 11 Command Module Columbia.

Required: Free Timed-Entry Pass

Please be advised that while admission is free, the Smithsonian Institution requires all visitors to secure a timed-entry pass in advance to enter the National Mall building.

  • How to Secure: Visit SI.EDU, click on "Visit," select "Museums," and navigate to the National Air and Space Museum page to reserve your entry time.
  • Booking Window: Passes are released in batches. For visits during ISDC 2026, you can begin securing passes on April 1, 2026.
  • Availability: These passes are highly sought after and often reach capacity weeks in advance. We recommend reserving yours as soon as the window opens.

  • Hours: Open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM (except December 25).
  • Transit: The museum is easily accessible via the Washington Metro. The closest stations are L'Enfant Plaza (Blue, Orange, Silver, Green, and Yellow lines) and Smithsonian (Blue, Orange, and Silver lines).
