The USS Hornet is the ship that recovered the Apollo 11 astronauts, the first men on the moon; 1969 Then, on July 20, 1969, Buzz and Neil Armstrong made their historic Apollo XI moon walk on July 20, 1969, thus becoming the first two humans to set foot on another world. 40$ Transportation provided. 15$ Provide your own transportation Limit to 40 people. Chabot Space & Science Center is an innovative teaching and learning center focusing on astronomy and the space sciences and the interrelationships of all sciences. Its observatory, planetarium, exhibits, and natural park setting are a place where a diverse population of students, teachers, and the public can imagine, understand, and learn to shape their future through science. 35$ Transportation provided 15$ Provide your own transportation. Friday May 23 we have arranged for a tour of NASA Ames Research Center.NASA Ames Research Center is located at Moffett Field, California in the heart of "Silicon Valley". Ames was founded December 20, 1939 as an aircraft research laboratory by the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) and in 1958 became part of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). Ames specializes in research geared toward creating new knowledge and new technologies that span the spectrum of NASA interests. There is no charge for this tour. There will be a 4$ - 6$ public transportation charge at the conference. The number of participants is limited, so sign up early. Leaves hotel at 7am, returns about noon.
